Mark is originally from Glasgow and trained as a nurse before making his professional debut in the original UK tour of Les Miserables where he played Marius. Mark has since returned to Les Miserables playing Enjolras at the Palace Theatre, London and on tour. He also performed at the show's 10th anniversary concert at the Royal Albert Hall. Other leading roles in the West End include; Chris in Miss Saigon (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane), performances as Quasimodo in Notre Dame de Paris (Dominion Theatre) and in the highly acclaimed comedy review, Forbidden Broadway (Jermyn Street and Albery Theatres).
Other career highlights include Judas Iscariot in Jesus Christ Superstar (R.U.G. UK Tour, 2001), Black Goes with Everything (Churchill Theatre, Bromley), the title role in You're A Good Man Charlie Brown (Oldham Coliseum), the Duke in Jazz Rigoletto (Lillian Baylis Trust with the English National Opera), Late and Lyrical (Jermyn Street Theatre), the title role in Mr Lollipop (Paisley Theatre), Johnny in Fascination Waltz (Glasgow Ramshorn Theatre), Moments of Magic (UK Tour), Evita (Larnaca Amphitheatre, Cyprus) and the world premiere of Eric Woolfson's Poe, the only musical to be performed and recorded live at the world famous Abbey Road Studios.
Workshop performances include Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Beautiful Game (Cambridge Theatre, Sydmonton Festival in Exile), the musical version of Romeo and Juliet (The Old Vic) and the workshop demo recording of the new, much talked about, musical version of The Lord Of The Rings. He recently played the part of the Preacher in Leonard Bernstein's Mass at the Barbican and aired on Radio 4 with the London Symphony Orchestra.
Mark was a finalist in the BBC Radio 2 International Voice Of Musical Theatre and he performs regularly on Friday Night Is Music Night, including the Millennium Eve Special and their 50th birthday celebration at the Birmingham Symphony Hall.
Other concert work includes Manhattan Nights (UK Tours), The Best Of The West End (UK National Trust sites, Taiwan, St Petersburg and Moscow), as one of the three Scots Tenors at Murrayfield Stadium and internationally as a Big Band vocalist with The Nick Ross Orchestra. Mark was delighted to be personally invited to appear in the RSNO proms this year with his show Songs For Lovers Of Swing at the Edinburgh Usher Hall and the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. He has also had the pleasure of performing aboard various luxury world cruise liners including the QE2.
TV appearances include GMTV, Open House with Gloria Hunniford, Eikon (STV) and QVC.
Mark's recording work includes Berger in Hair (TER), Les Miserables Royal Albert Hall Dream Cast, The Westenders, Listen (A gospel album including songs written by himself) and is on the recent motion picture The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy amongst a chorus of singing dolphins! Mark has just released his long awaited solo debut CD which has been played on the Russell Davies show on BBC Radio 2.
Mark has recently toured as a solo artist with the international show Spirit Of Broadway which he will also be performing in, in India this October.
